  • 5 dl milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 dl sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 12 dl wheat flour
  • 150 g butter


  • 200 g unflavoured cream cheese
  • 100 g chocolate can also be white chocolate
  • For anointing
  • 1 egg and
  • 2 tablespoons caster sugar to coat the buns


  • Heat the milk until it is just warm enough to handle. Mix the sugar, salt, cardamom and egg into the milk.
  • Mix the dry yeast into the flour and whisk into the milk mixture.
  • Gradually add the flour to the dough and finally the melted butter. Knead the dough until it becomes elastic and easy to bake. Do not add too much flour, otherwise the buns will be hard.
  • Let the dough rise under a warm cloth until doubled in size.


  • Melt the chocolate with double boiler method, and stir into the cream cheese. Add chocolate to taste.
  • When the dough has risen, roll out the dough into a large square, spread the cream cheese chocolate over the dough and roll. Leave a seam under the roll.
  • Cut the roll into pieces about 4cm wide and put them onto the baking tray to rise. Brush with egg and sprinkle with caster sugar until the buns have risen. It will take about 20 minutes.
  • Bake the chocolate buns in a 200C oven on the middle shelf until nicely browned. Cool slightly after baking and enjoy fresh.
