Ingredients

  • 4 bananas
  • 0.5 litre cooking oil for deep frying

Frying batter

  • 1 dl wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon baking flour
  • 1 tbsp cane sugar
  • 0,5 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 dl sparkling water normal water is fine too

Instructions

  • First mix the dry ingredients. Add the egg in and mix until a smooth batter is formed. Start adding water, stirring slowly. The fryer batter should be runny, but it should stick on the bananas.
  • Put the cooking oil in a saucepan. The temperature should be 180C degrees. A thermometer is a great tool! Keep the lid close and smother the fire with the lid in case the oil catches fire. Never use water on oil burn.
  • If you don't have a thermometer, test the temperature of the oil by dropping a drop of frying batter into the oil. It should start to bubble immediately, otherwise the oil is not hot enough.
  • Cut the bananas in half. Stick a fork in them and dip them firmly into the frying batter. From the batter take it straight into the oil to fry. Be careful not to splash the hot oil.
  • Put as many banana pieces as you can fit in the wok at a time. After a minute they should have a brown and crispy crust. Lift the bananas with a slotted spoon onto a paper towel to dry for a while. You can slice the bananas into ready-to-eat portions on plates.
  • Serve the Fried Bananas with honey and vanilla ice cream.
